WARM UP VALENTINE's DAY WITH A CUP OF BREWED LOVE

Jacksonville, Oregon - Forget the cliché box of molded chocolates and the cheap bottle of headache-inducing champagne. Bring home a "Love Jug" of warming sweet tea to your valentine, and see if your evening warms up nicely.

"Chai tea is all about taking care of yourself. It also gives the one you love a warm feeling," said Chad Derosier of Heartsong Herbal Brewing Company. Jacksonville's own Heartsong Herbal Brewing Company was introduced in April 2000 at the Ashland Community Food Store Earth Day celebration. Nearly five years later, this growing enterprise says that they are still "brewing with love".

"Brewing with love means that you are intent on what you are making. That you are mindful and intentional in sharing the best quality," said Derosier, also known as the "Chai Guy." "We grind our own spices, and use the best quality water, and organic ingredients and buy local whenever possible."

Self-titled "Chai Mama", Elizabeth Bretko, explains that chai is a perfect fit for Valentine's Day because of its effect as a mood maker.

"A lot of the spices in chai, including cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and cardamom, are historically renowned for their aphrodisiac qualities" said Bretko. "The effects of chai are a warm and calm mood which helps to keep people centered and focused." Honey, the only sweetener in a warm cup of chai, is also known for its aphrodisiac qualities. More...

"Many of the spices are also muscle relaxers. After a long day they help take the stress away and get you back in touch with your body. Which is beneficial for overall health," said Bretko.

Heartsong brews are sold in boxes, love jugs, and on tap all over Oregon, including many grocery stores, from the Jacksonville Inn to Sweet Life Patisserie in Eugene.

The intention of the Heartsong Herbal Brewing Company is to put a non-alcoholic spin on the popular concept of the micro-brewery. Chai brews are an alternative to alcohol, soda or coffee.

Love is always in mind when Heartsong is brewing. The sign above the stove reads: One Heart, One Love, One Cup.

"This is the way we brew with love and good intentions," said Bretko. "Get your sweetie some chai. It's a great way to celebrate a day of love and romance."

Heartsong Herbal Brewing Company may be reached online at www.heartsongchai.com, via email: chaimama@heartsongchai.com, or in the kitchen at (541) 899-5640.
